Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health (Battle Creek, MI)

Starr’s Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health Center, located in Battle Creek, Michigan, offers outpatient and school-based services for the greater region including Albion and Marshall. Direct, community-based treatment and prevention services to children and families include: academic support, case management, family therapy, group therapy, individual and group counseling, school-based mental health services, and outpatient therapy. All services are rooted in the Starr Commonwealth strength-based trauma-informed, resilience-focused philosophy that sees greatness in all children and families. Though rooted in one philosophy, evidence-based interventions employed are individualized to the client based on needs assessed at intake and throughout treatment as well with cultural and linguistic considerations in mind.

Meet the team:

Becca Gerlach, LMSW, CAADC, CTP-T

Becca Gerlach received her MSW from Wayne State University and is currently working toward her PhD in Clinical Social Work from the Institute for Clinical Social Work. Becca is a Certified Trauma Practitioner, a foundational level Theraplay therapist, and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Becca uses play and art and draws from psychodynamic principles to treat and assess children, adolescents, and adults. Becca believes each child and parent should be treated with curiosity, compassion, and individual attention.

Becca’s specialty areas include: childhood trauma, at-risk and adjudicated youth, anxiety, depression, addictions and adult survivors of childhood trauma.
