Level-1 Trauma Certification

Starr is pleased to offer two Certified Trauma Practitioner tracks, one focused on the needs of clinicians and the other focused on the needs of educators. Certification requires participation in a total of five live or online trainings and complete one online exam. All online courses include CEs.

There are no prerequisites – anyone can attend a Level-1 course!

Certified Trauma Practitioner-Clinical

NEW Required Courses

After completing Level-1 Certified Trauma Practitioner Certification for Clinicians, you may use the credential “CTP-C”, which stands for Certified Trauma Practitioner-Clinical.

If you have taken Children of Trauma, please note it can count in place of Children of Trauma and Resilience.

If you have taken Structured Sensory Interventions or Healing the Experience of Trauma, each can count in place of Structured Sensory Interventions II.

Certified Trauma Practitioner-Education

NEW Required Courses

After completing Level-1 Certified Trauma Practitioner Certification for Educators, you may use the credential “CTP-E”, which stands for Certified Trauma Practitioner-Education.

If you have taken Trauma Informed Schools, please note it can count in place of Trauma Informed Resilient Schools.

If you have taken Healing the Experience of Trauma, it can count in place of Healing Trauma and Restoring Resilience in Schools.

Maintaining Certification

Once you earn your certification, you must keep it up-to-date. All you need to do each calendar year is:

  • Complete one of Starr’s CE approved 6 credit online courses, OR
  • Attend a full-day Starr training
