Glasswing - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

We are Oneness

One of the core values at Starr Commonwealth is the belief in the oneness of humankind, and in 1996 Starr established its Glasswing Program to create a catalyst for conversation around racism and building compassion, honesty, and unity between all people. Starr’s Glasswing approach is to explore Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI-B) through a trauma-informed, resilience-focused and culturally-responsive lens, recognizing that experiences of racism, toxic hierarchy, and oppression are embodied experiences of individual, collective, and historical/intergenerational trauma. Starr’s Glasswing offers space for training and dialogue to support individuals and organizations with resilience building and collective healing. Named after the Glasswing butterfly (espejitos in Spanish — translating to “little mirrors”), this name also symbolically describes Glasswing’s purpose: to help all of us truly see one another and our world more clearly and to see ourselves without distortion. More than a name, Glasswing is a movement that seeks to connect and uplift us all.
